Ad management for the blogger on a budget

If you have been blogging or reading blogs for any amount of time…you will notice the cute little block banners that most bloggers use. You know, the 125×125 square ads. Well, with most themes it is hard to include these properly. Maybe you don’t want to hack any code to get up and going with advertising.

Now, there are many options out there, and one great plugin called OIO publisher that handles all payments and ad posting for you, I think it’s like $37. That’s not bad, and I definitely advise you to get it when you have the funds. But, for me….I always look for the free stuff first. I plan to get OIO at some point, but for now, I have a few plugins that work well for the blogger on a budget.

I want to talk to you today about Unique Blog Design’s Block Ad plugin. This thing is awesome, it does exactly what you need it to do, without any “branding” or “created by” taglines showing up in the plugin.

It sports a very clean interface, which will allow you to easily add the required links/code for your banners.  If it is an affiliate product, just copy the provided banner code, if it is your own, just put in the location of the image and link you want to use.  Even if this doesn’t make sense to you, UBD has created a few simple video tutorials that will show you all you need to get started.

Another key option is built in ad rotation, and support for up to 10 block ads at a time.  The ad rotation gives all banners a fair chance, as well as assures that anybody wishing to advertise with you will not feel like you are showing any type of bias to any one advertiser.  Now, up to 10 ads doesn’t mean you don’t have room for more advertisers.  This plugin will rotate any number of ads you have within the number of blocks you designate.  For instance, only want to show 4 blocks but have 10 ads?  With this plugin, that is not a problem, all ads will be rotated within the 4 blocks.

You also get a choice between one column and two columns, all depends on what you are looking for.  On this blog, I like the two column theme, but on some others, one column works better, that’s the beauty, with this plugin, you have a choice.

Now, you may be thinking, that this all sounds good, but you have no idea how to implement it.  Never fear, widgets are here!  Yes, this plugin comes with a widget that you can put into your sidebar for easy integration.

The bottom line is, for most bloggers, banners and private ad sales is a great way to monetize, but many don’t have the funds up front, to buy a proper management system.  Or, maybe you are just a budget blogger and like to use free tools first before needing to dish out any hard earned cash.  Whatever the case, you should at least check out the plugin.  It’s free, I don’t get anything for telling you this, I just found it and knew some of my readers would like it.

So go over to Unique Blog Designs Block Ad plugin, let all the budget bloggers unite! :)

OIO Publisher eclipses every other script in the blogosphere with its superb personal customer support and outstanding product development. To blog, monetize and not use this plugin is to simply be giving your money away!

Needless to say I love this plugin and would not trade it for anything.

I know….the way it automates accepting payments and everything is great, I can’t wait to purchase it one day.

However, some may not be ready to make that purchase just yet, or, they may just be using their own affiliate banners, and this one makes it very easy.

I guess it depends on how much you want to control your ads, and how automated you want to get.

I definitely have plans to use OIO Publisher, but, I can’t leave my readers hanging when I find a good free solution to handle banners as well.
