One of the main parts to personality marketing is making sure you stay visible to folks.

So they see you everywhere they go…or as much as possible.

Article marketing and web 2.0 sites help you establish your knowledge and presence.

It also helps bring mo traffic baby!

I use squidoo, blogger, ezinearticles, etc….

I’ve never touched a hup page!

I want to touch it…I want to feel it, I want to bring it  into my arms…hahahaha

Can you help me?

Whatup with the hubpages and how do I use them?

Let me know below!

I’m a hub rookie, but I know that you just have to dive right in there and get busy. I think the focus has to be on information because hub has this rating system and if your hub isn’t rated high enough (think 76 is the magic number), then your links inside of hub will not be “do follow”, which means no backlink juice.

Caution: if you use more than one link the same site, your hub will be banned or suspended.

Trust me on this one, I found out the hard way. It is not a real big deal because all you have to do is go back to the hub, take the link out, and change the content around a little bit. But it is a little bit of an hassle, so just avoid that one out the door.

Hope this helps and you know!

Joe, Lori said something that made me remember one other thing as well as far as links.

Yes, you can only have 1 link to each site, but can have multiple links. So in your Hub you can link to ImWithJoe.com, SoundandGear.com, JoesOtherSite.com, and so on, so don’t think it is only one link…just one link to each site.

You CAN have more, in fact as many has you want, links to your other Hub pages. They do not penalize you for that. In fact, it is good practice to link to your other Hubs to give them more link juice and more traffic as well. Since each one is going to link out to at least one of your sites, why not?

    Hope that helps as well.

    Let’s go get’em!!

I’ve never used hub pages and to be honest never even seen one. Why? Simple because I don’t want to lay all my eggs in one basket. If I’m writing content, why not publish it on my own blogs and get some search traffic to it?

Well, I think I need more information on the subject to have something to say about it though. I hope you’ll write more about it later on?

@ Stefan – actually, by posting on your own blog IS putting your eggs in one basket. When you put articles out at Ezine for example, or build a hubpage, add links to social sites etc etc etc… that gives you inbound links to your site!! That is a GREAT thing! The more inbound links from high PR sites to your site… the better your site will rank in the SE… IF you do all the other stuff right!

Just like commenting on other blogs like we are here.. those are inbound links to your site!

I’m looking forward to leaning about hubpages as well Joe Joe! I’ve been meaning to get on that band wagon but just haven’t taken the time!

Well, my point is.. what if ezine decides to ban you? Within one second all of your income will be lost. If you have total control over your content with a blog, they can’t do that.

well, I don’t now about you, but ezine articles can never kill my income lol. We are not talking about putting everything on one of these places, this is in addition to your own blog/website.

even if you don’t have a website, you still should use more than one place for your content. You could run a business using nothing but multiple free locations, as for me, I’m more about building a business around me, so I need my own site.

but I use the other sites for their traffic and syndication.

    Normal Joe (2055 comments) Reply:

Nah man, you gotta have some content in other places too…what about those that don’t come to your blog? If they use these other spots, and find you there, then they may come on over…however if they never see you, and use these spots a lot, they may never find out about you. Not to mention the extra search engine loving and the extra links you get.

I definitely suggest putting your content more places than “just” your own site.

Freddie- I didn’t know about the no-follow part! Man, that sucks…

Joe, it’s a lot like Squidoo, but instead of just getting a cut of the the company’s profit, you insert your own AdSense, eBay, Amazon, and Kontera codes. You then get 6 out of every 10 page view impressions with your code embedded in it. That’s actually not too bad, and I really do get ad clicks, though not as high of a CTR as I get on my own pages (because you can’t control where the ads go or what they look like).

It’s a bit simpler than Squidoo, too, without as many options for types of content or affiliate modules. I believe it’s only the 4 types that I listed above. Like Freddie said, you can only have one outgoing link per domain, and I think that includes subdomains- so, you can have a link to IMWithJoe.com OR Hubs.IMWithJoe.com but not both.

Because of that restriction, I’ve learned to make my hubs work over time. Instead of building a hub just to serve as an outgoing link, I build a massive hub. Like, instead of Valencia oranges, I build a hub on how to choose an orange, and then link to a navel orange, a valencia orange, a blood orange, and a kumquat site. The broader topic lets me link to multiple domains without incurring a penalty, I only have to build one hub instead of 4 to get the links, and it keeps my ratings higher and search traffic flowing because of how much content is on there. I can send you a link to my most popular hubs if you want, so you can see what I mean.

Since I build big daddy hubs, I get more search traffic, which then click through to my sites or who click the ads, which pays me 60% of the time. It actually works pretty well. And it’s really simple once you get the hang of it. They do have quality requirements, but I don’t think you’ll have any trouble there. :-D

I’ve made a few Hub Pages. It’s similar to Squidoo but:

    1. Hub pages has more restrictions on original content and how many outgoing links you can have. At one point, your Hub Pages article could not appear anywhere else but Hub Pages. Now I think it can, but not if it has TOO many outgoing links and/or the articles appears on too many other sites.

    2. I have found that Hub Pages seems to pay better than Squidoo in terms of ad revenue. But that is only with a few Hubs to compare.

I haven’t made as many Hubs as I want to but I have been meaning to do more …

I know you are the squidqueen! I don’t care about the 1 link thing, but it’s definitely good to know. Also the better payout sounds good too! Thanks for the input!
