Non-cash cashflow and indirect profits. How much are you really making?

Hey,are you new here? You should subscribe to my RSS feed miss out on any goodness!

How to make money online without making money

Oh yeah, I know you thinking I’m losing my mind but hear me out. I have had a pretty good week this week, met some new bloggers and got a ton of things done. But I’ll save that stuff for the weekly roundup!

Today I want to bring your attention to something you may not think about or give much relevance to, and that’s your non-cash cashflow! Hahaha, no I’m not crazy, but, I think a lot of us have been beneficiaries of non-cash income. You can actually profit online without seeing funds in your Paypal or bank account, or seeing checks in the mail.

What is non-cash cashflow and how can I get me some?!

Non-cash casflow is exactly how it sounds. Anything that is profitable to you or your business, that doesn’t involve you receiving cash. There are many types and ways you can acquire this newfound wealthy, and I just want to touch on a few of them.

  • Contest prizes - yes, if you’ve recieved any type of prize from a contest, you are rolling in the non-cash cashflow! Think about it, the prizes have a cash value, that’s why they contests usually say something like “over $1700 worth of prizes up for grabs”. Now are they exaggerating or not? I don’t know, most of the time the prizes are listed and you can check the value for yourself…most that I’ve seen are pretty honest. The fact remains, this stuff is worth something…no, you may not get the cash, but, you get the value. Even on Wheel Of Fortune, they calculate the total “cash value” including all prizes, vactions, and other non-monetary winnings.
  • Service Exchanges- have you ever exchanged services with someone that normally charges for their service? If so…you guessed it…(everyone say it) non-cash cashflow! You scratch my back and I scratch yours, there’s nothing new here. So let’s make a deal, we barter my service for yours. Maybe you’re a graphic designer…maybe I’m a good article writter. We trade a banner for 5 articles? Who knows…all I know is both of the people involve can place a value on their service, yet, they’ve chosen to barter instead of dish out the money. Non-cash cashflow
  • Free advertising and link luv - It’s funny, but many don’t look at this as profit. Say a site charges $100 for a blog/site review, but, somehow they found out about your site and liked it so much they plugged it on their site….guess what that is ( you should know this by now) non-cash cashflow! Maybe in exchange for a service, like above, you get some adspace on a site that otherwise charges for it. How much they charge is how much you just profited..is it $20 for a square sidebar ad? Cool, you just got $20 worth of adspace for your service.

How much non-cash cashflow has IMwithJoe had?

Well, let’s see, I’ve had my fair share I must say, and it got me to thinking about this whole topic. When looking at your success online, do you include these things in the equation? Does this add to your bottom line? I very rarely see people include things like this in their “income reports”, yet, it is actually a form of income. I mean, there are charities that take non-monetary gifts in place of money, and when they report it guess how they have to report it? By it’s cash value.

So let’s take a look at the non-cash cashflow for IMwithJoe.com. Many of you know that I just recently got a free flip video camera. How much is this worth? Well according to the flip video website, this is a $179 camera. I got it as part of a contest, so, this is non-cash cashflow for me. This is pure profit! :)

Last month I also got a free copy of Joel Comm’s secret classroom as part of another contest. According to the site, it’s $697, and there’s a $200 off coupon now, making it $497. Well say it’s $500 bucks. Again, that’s pure profit! And nevermind the value it’s been adding to my business! I didn’t have to put up any money, any ppc, any advertising, I just simple joined in the contest. Can we say it? Shall we?

NON-CASH CASHFLOW!!!!

Now, I also have an example of “indirect income” meaning, it’s cash that you recieve in much the same manner. Mostly this will be from constest and such. Well, before I even started this blog, in my early stages of online marketing…I won $50 in Matt Garrett’s Why promote someone else’s affiliate link contest. What did I have to do? Come up with a decent answer to a question he asked on his blog. Now, while this isn’t non-cash cashflow, it is indirect income. I still didn’t put any money forward, I didn’t have to do anything but trade my service ( a comment) to enter the contest.

Success comes in various ways

What I want you to realize is that money isn’t always the sign of success online.
There is no doubt in my mind that I would have NEVER even had the opportunity to acquire these items had it not been for me being interested in online marketing.

What I didn’t include is some of the other things I’ve secured like advertising, and service trades. Which I also consider to fit in this equation. So, look around, find ways to add to your bottom line, or, even ways you’ve already profited in a non-cash way…it just may be the motivation you need to keep going! :)

PS: I have a new product ready to launch, as I told you, you will love it. But, I promised my mailing list they’d be the first to know, so I’ll tell them first, then, I’ll let it be known on this blog :) Trust me, you will flip out! And if you know me…you know it will be attainable by everyone… :) you can find it out if you’re resourceful.

Thats a very interesting take on things joe. I suppose you can put a cash value on things that arent neccesarily cash items.
Hmmm I wonder how many other things might fall into this category.

That’s what I’m saying man….sometimes people just post about you for no reason known to you! They usually may charge for that type of love, but you scored it for free.

I’m sure you can find many objects or situations that fit this criteria….

So as a subscriber I am looking forward to hearing about your fancy smancy new product Joe.

On another note, while I was at first a little annoyed at the fact that your rss emails only show a little teaser of the post, you actually never to fail to deliver. Every time I check your site you have some good new posts up and not just posts for the sake of posting. I always find that yours are the ones that make you go….’Hmmmmm, thats right’, and while I probably knew it in the subconcious somewhere, you give me something to ponder/act upon.

Cheers Mate. Some non-cash cashflow link love coming your way soon!

How’d you get on with google??

Hahahaha…I never thought about that…I guess I could put the whole post in the RSS, people will come by if they have something to say. There was no logic behind that at all, I just did it that way, figured most didn’t want the whole thing in their readers.

As for the content, thanks a lot! I try to provide a different type of content than the norm in this “niche”. While I plan to offer more traditional type of articles talking about different techniques…I think following my natural content flow is best.

Some may get sick of my “time management” posts and one’s like these, but, oh well! I like to encourage and help motivate people, and I think it shows in my posts.

Did you get the info about the site? I sent the broadcast out last night, may do another today.
