Google Chrome BrowserGoogle has a new browser, it’s sexy, I like it!
Seriously, just try it out, it’s pretty fast, simplified, puts the tabs above the address bar, and uses the same box for browsing and searching. Each tab runs as it’s own thing, so a crash in one doesn’t mess with the others. It’s also “sandboxed” somehow, so it’s suppose to not let any type of threats get out, they have two layers to get through instead of just exploiting some code. The google sandbox would also have to be exploited. We’ll see how it goes, but I say at least take a look
My buddy Ben from benjaminpatton.com is having a contest. The sponsors are Market Leverage and
Hostgator. You can win an Asus mini laptop from Market Leverage, or a free hosting from Hostgator for a whole year. I’d say you should at least go on over and see what the Ben has up his sleeve. That’s one sexy piece of tech!
There’s been quite a few bloggers getting rid of their blogs lately. First Neal the Real Deal, and then Pisser, now Monkeyblogger is selling his site. Sometimes you gotta do what you gotta do, and though I hate to see these blogs go, I’m happy they are making the right choice for themselves. He has it listed on sitepoint.

About Chrome – I’ve heard that it has some major security flaws. For example, it automatically imports your Firefox logins and password. Something that will keep me away from the browser.
The contest looks pretty tight. I’m going to try and participate as soon as possible.
I hope the MonkeyBlogger sells for a good price. It’s hard to pass away a great site like that.

@Sly from SlyVisions dot Com – Not sure who gave you the info, but as with anything, you have the choice not to import settings. If you are saving passwords/logins within firefox then you’re not all too concerned about security I wouldn’t think
Get robo form
I’m still messing with it, but it seems cool, not my go to browser yet, but I like the concept. Whoever pointed out the import of password data as a security flaw must not know much about security
Sorry….I’m a security guy by day hahahaha.

There’s no Chrome for Mac!? Boooooo!
I got Windows too, but I don’t surf on it. I can wait, unless people start freaking out about it like it just ‘HAS” to be used right this minute!
Cheers!

Joe Joe Joe thanks for the mention and good luck to everyone on the prizes. I downloaded chrome today while I was watching your video and I like it. Like all new things, much less accidentally released before it was suppose to be its still a great browser. As soon as they develop the plugins that I use for it I may switch.
I will let the hackers and crackers get to it and see what its made out of. I know it has to be better than anything with the IE label on it. Until then Im sticking with FF 3.0.1

MonkeyBlogger.com started out so hot, just couldn’t keep it up when Mark got put out of commission with a shoulder injury. Maybe he can make some money off the sale, but it’s a shame to see it go. Thanks for the update, FireFox is still a LOT better than Chrome though… as it is only in Beta.

@Mark Cuda –
no doubt bro, hope it works out for ya!
@SuiteJ –
Hahaha, yeah man, it’s not that serious, you’ll be fine
@Big Ben Patton –
No prob, and yeah…it’s still early, I’m still on ff, I just thought it was pretty cool looking and liked some of the functionality
@The Net Fool –
Yeah man, too bad I wasn’t around then! He’s a cool dude though. As far as Chrome, it’s not ready to compete with ff….YET, I think they are going for a different experience so I wouldn’t expect all the plugins and such.

I like Chrome so far, I realize that it is still in Beta and that things will change. But I think that Google has a great start with it already and that they have a good chance at giving Safari/Opera a run for their money and I would even hazard to say that eventually they will catch up to Microsoft and Mozilla.
I just whipped up a quick post about my thoughts about Chrome and so far so good. Just a few things that could be changed but other then that, I am happy with it.
I checked out the MonkeyBlogger auction real quick, I am not sure if he will get the amount that he is asking for but kudos to him if he does. I didn’t read through much of the blog but it looks like there was some good content on it.

I’m not touching Chrome… Nadda, No Thanks… Man here’s the way I look at it – Google pretty much controls how we surf the web, how we make money on the web, and pretty much how we do anything, anywhere online… The last thing I want to do is use a web browser developed by Google… What little privacy I have in my life is now out the window if I do that.
It’s a complete monopoly and I’m not down with that… Next thing you know Google will be making computers…

@Elijah – That is ridiculous. It is your choice whether or not to use Google and their services. There are other search engines out there that you can use. Yahoo and MSN can still provide traffic to your websites although yeah it may not be as much as Google.
In all reality Google collects just as much data as anybody else. I can bet that almost any website that you go to nowadays store a cookie on your computer to at least track where you go on that website. So are you just going to stop visiting websites completely?
I’m not trying to be rude or start a holy war but Google tracks just as much as any other website should be tracking. Google tracks what you do to give you the most relevant information according to things that you like. They are basically custom tailoring the web to fit your style based upon your past browsing experience.
People that are so paranoid about their privacy on the web need to stay off of it. Unless you have all cookies disabled and all JavaScript you are going to be tracked no matter what you do.

It’s all good Jarret – I speak my mind because I encourage others to do the same.. that’s usually when the best discussions happen.
I guess I should elaborate a little bit more on what I said. I’m not so concerned with the privacy issue, because I’m smart on that end. For me it’s more of a moral concern – I’m not a big fan of monopolistic corporate chess games.. and Google being who they are, it goes against my own personal methods of supporting the “smaller” companies on and off line. Google was once a small company, but that was quite some time ago…
That’s what I meant
It’s a personal thing for me. If McDonalds were to monopolize the sock industry, and I was a person who wore socks on a daily basis – I would stop wearing socks…

@Elijah – No harm no foul
I can agree with you about supporting the smaller companies in both aspects of the online and offline worlds. I’ll always visit a mom and pop gas station to fill up even if they are a few cents more expensive just to help them out.
I checked out your blog real quick as well. Some impressive stats for being so new, better stats then my blog which I have had around since May. Although I was never into the whole social scene and just wrote on my blog to write, but have begun to slowly immerse myself and get my name out there. I will have to do some more snooping around your blog later today.

@ Joe – All I can do is continue being hard headed and hopefully I’ll win a free dinner or something in the end.
@ Jarret – Many thanks for stopping by bro. I think a main factor to the traffic right out of the gates is that for 6 months or so prior to launching the blog I spent countless hours commenting on other blogs, networking, and absorbing as much as I could – so I think it would be safe to say that our site was launched with a pretty clear path in mind. I was about as ready as one could be.. even though I don’t think we ever are. Feel free to snoop anytime bro!
@ SuiteJ – OMG… damn bro, I don’t have a diaper available for miles.. you can’t make me laugh like that.. that was a close one.

What’s crackin, Joe?
I am glad you posted this about Chrome. I had see Google was playing with it around the net, but didn’t realize that it was available for download.
Nevertheless, being the cutting edge guy that I am, I downloaded my copy today and am playing around with it. I really like the feature of putting the most visited website on the homepage. That is pretty cool.
I have been checking Big Ben out lately and really like what I am seeing. Learn some serious stuff over the past few days from him, and I am awaiting his Plugin list that he uses for various sites.
As you know, I am flipping a few sites right now and need as much help as I can get. My first site should be listed on SitePoint this week and my friend and I came up with 3 more ideas today. So, they are at the point of content generation and site building. It’s happening!
I’m with Joe!

@TigerTom -I hear that! Maybe they get bored or maybe they get too busy. I also think blogging takes a lot more work than many realize. Not these fellas I mentioned but in general. Most of them do have other things to do…and, like anything else, they’ve build up an asset that can get them out of a bind.
