Hey,are you new here? You should subscribe to my RSS feed miss out on any goodness!
IMwithJoe accomplishments from the past week
Last week was pretty productive, though most of it was done away from this site. I did however get quite a few things done last week.
- I started back up with the secret marketing strategies exposed series
- I created a page on the site that shows how I make money online, highlighting the things that actually generate income for me
- I added an auction section to the site, which updates with internet marketing items from eBay
- I did start working on my niche product site, actually, I launched an entirely new blog for it
- I got me a hostgator account, and I will be moving all my sites over gradually, I have already started moving some of my smaller sites
- I got a couple more bloggers wiling to be interviewed for my new interview blog
- I did get a chance to clean up my inbox some more, so I’m on fewer mailing lists as of today
- I commented on some new blogs, but, not 5 per day as I had hoped
- Did a nice post on the pepperjamNETWORK user interface. Kris, the CEO of pepperjam even came over to comment on it…he loved it
Those are some of the highlights from last week. I did not increase my RSS feed by the amount I had hoped, and, I had some weirdness going on with my numbers this weekend as the increased, dropped, increased, dropped. Oh well, this stuff happens.
IMwithJoe Goals for the week
I have quite a few things planned this week, both on this site and away from it.
- I want to come up with a better posting schedule, I will be asking for your input on that
- I will promote my new niche blog, as well as my older ones
- I will be focusing on getting interviews for ifthisblogcouldtalk.com
- focus more on optimizing my time and getting more done
- comment on more new blogs, and expose some new bloggers to you
- increase my RSS feed by 10 to 20
I know there is much more I want to do, but I am starting to focus more and not make so many goals for the week. As I meet my goals, I can always add more tasks to the list.
I look forward to another productive work week ![]()

You don’t mention how much you have earned Joe - without giving figures away, would you say the amount met your expectations, and was it a fair rate relative to the number of hours you’ve put into the blog?

I’m not really a figures give away type of guy….not unless I need to. I’m not rich, nor am I where I want to be yet.
Honestly, this blog isn’t really the money maker, it’s the other things I’m involved in.
The amount of time I put into the blog is paying off, and I see improvement each week, and each month. As long as I don’t start declining…I’m okay.
I think with most bloggers, it takes a time to get to the point where your blog is making a decent bit of money, and for me, that’s fine because this blog isn’t my money maker anyway. I started it simply to share my experiences….but as I continue to build it, revenue will continue to increase.
In the beginning, blogs won’t payout monetarily in a comparable way to how much work you put in. It takes a lot of work to keep a blog healthy and growing, it’s all a matter of how you measure success.

That’s been my experience too - there’s a lifecycle to blog earnings where the work required far outstrips the income for quite some time.
Later on the amount of work required will decline as your loyal readership will start promoting for you and that in turn will lead to more readers and higher earnings.
I think most newcomers give up, at least those looking to make money, because they put in a lot of effort for a few weeks and don’t get instant results.

I agree Scam….it’s all about the focus. See me, initially, I started this blog to document my journey in other marketing areas…the more I blogged, the more I loved it.
A blog is a great networking tool, and way to build a community…
I have niche blogs that I create for the sole purpose of driving traffic and generating money….but, they dont’ take as much effort as a personal blog, depending on the niche.
Load up a few articles and set it on autopilot, once the search engines start indexing it, go back every once in a while and load up some more content.
I’m in this for the long haul, I don’t want to join the statistic of those who quit, but, I also came into the whole IM thing with a different outlook…knowing it was going to take work!

Good luck with the goals. I procrastinate so I get done with my goals at the last minute.

I hear ya Germz, I’ve been working toward getting on a pretty detailed schedule, so I know what I have to do, when, and try not to put it off…it takes practice but is worth it in the end.
