Joe moves to the swamp!

By Normal Joe | July 16, 2008

Hey,are you new here? You should subscribe to my RSS feed miss out on any goodness!

HostGator GatorWell, I’ve been busy behind the scenes this week, as you know, I’ve been focusing more on time management and such.  As I am trying to be more efficient with my time and get more done so that I can reach my goals quicker.

Essential tool for bloggers

Part of reaching your goals quicker is making sure you have the proper tools in place so that you will work smarter, and get more done in the little amount of time you have.  In light of this fact, I had decided to switch my web hosting to Hostgator.

I did this for multiple reasons. Including:

  • I knew I wanted to have unlimited sites, deploying niche blogs is something I enjoy, my previous host only had 25 mysql databases. Yeah, I know you can make it work, but, I don’t play with mysql, I just like to let the script install and go.
  • One of my sites in the works will need more bandwidth than what was available to me on my previous host, now I have unlimited so I can do what I need to do
  • It works for me now and will be adequate in the future.  Not only can I use it now, but, as my network grows I won’t have to worry about space or bandwidth issues, this is a plus for me.

Why I love Hostgator

In my recent days moving to this new host, I honestly have fell in love.  The features to price ratio is top notch in my book, and was a major drawing factor.  I went with the big boy package, the swamp croc package.  This only cost me $14/month and I get about 1tb of storage and unlimited bandwidth, on top of all the othe unlimited features available.

Speaking of features, fantastico!  Now, most of you are not new to this, but, I’ve never used it before and let me just say, I love it!

I definitely feel I made a great choice.

Hostgator is the perfect host for Wordpress

In addition to the things above, Hostgator actually improved the performance of my blog.  My admin interface is noticeably faster, and my site loads much faster than before.  All in all, I am happy about the move, and everyone should be pointed to the new server by now……

I was previously with GoDaddy, and let me say, there was nothing bad about them.  I stil have some personal sites hosted there, but for business and such, I just feel that Hostgator better met MY needs.  If you don’t like your host, or looking for one, definitely try Hostgator.  There is a banner at the bottom of my sidebar that will allow you to get a discount on yoru first month…you get it for a penny.

Good call with HostGator. I made the switch about 4 months ago and I haven’t regretted it in the least. Fast and reliable.

It takes a little courage and a bit of frustration to decide for a change of host which I just did recently too but it wasn’t with HostGator but AnHosting instead.

I heard lots of bad PR about GoDaddy and I’m wondering if they really listen to all those comments at all.

Really? I don’t really have much bad to say about GoDaddy….my site never went down at all.

They have some little quirks about them…but, I didn’t leave for that reason, I just felt it was better to move now than later….so I won’t have to worry about expansion.

Either way….I’m happy as a clam now!

Hey Joe, (thats all a bit too hendrix)

I wanted to say thanks for the comments the other day. I have been reading your site just a little too busy to comment so, here I am finally. Awesome site!

You will have no doubt seen my recent issues with moving hosts and it was a huge pain in the ass but, like you, I am so happy with the outcome. I had my hostgator account for months and was running most of my other sites from it but recently I just wanted to get everything in the same place…instead of having two domains here, there and everywhere. In my experience (and I qualify through both time and expense) I have found that hostgator is the only choice for hosting and godaddy it the only choice for domains. I now have all domains with godaddy and all hosting through my hostgator reseller account and I too am happy as a clam!!

    You have gotta love fantastico!

    Regards,

Thanks for stopping by AP! Welcome :)

Yeah man, I agree, Hostgator is the best. I love Godaddy, their domain management is cool, but, I’ve also been using 1&1. Have you used them? I love their domain management as well, and all their .coms are $6.99, period, all the time.

I’ll have a banner up for them soon for their domains, I wouldn’t recommend their hosting though, not with Hostgator around :)

    Heyyyyy Joeeee (hendrix singing),

Hostgator has had a good reputation for quite a while. I’ve actually been with Vodahost since the start. They were simply one of the popular choices when I was getting going..or was it the nice looking girl talking to me in the video trying to sell me on the BlueVoda site builder?

Anyhow, there pretty good. Only a couple of small issues…

I’m not sure about GoDaddy for domains though. I heard Mike F saying he’d never use them again because he wanted to switch from them and they weren’t going to release his domain name to him…since in reality they register them..not technically us!

For most of us it’s probably not a problem, but if you are Mike Filsaime it might become an issue.

    Take care Joe..always a pleasure

    Hey Davin!

Yeah, hostgator is nice, I was with Godaddy when I first started, since I used them for some other non business stuff. I really like 1&1 for my domains though, they simply can’t be beat.

I heard sometimes people have problems with Godaddy domains, I may transfer them all to 1&1 at some point.

I haven’t had any trouble yet….but, I’d just like to have all my domains in one spot. Plus, 1&1 is cheaper and they offer private registration for free if you want it.
