Hey,are you new here? You should subscribe to my RSS feed miss out on any goodness!

What are the Marketing Secrets?

Heeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeey, it’s been a while.  If you were around a few months back you will remember this series.  Basically, I got the resale and plr rights to a product that claimed to have thousands of marketing secrets.  Well, instead of just reselling them like everyone else, I decided to put my own little twist on them.

The idea behind the series is to evaluate each method covered, and give you my opinion on the method.  This accomplishes two things:

  1. I  get to study some marketing strategies and form an opinion on them, while at the same time giving you more content to read.
  2. When I am done with the series I will have a completely new product of my own. :)

You can check out the very first post in this series by reading Marketing Madness Marketing Secrets Revealed

Well, I have decided to continue this series, and will try to bring you a new method daily.  Don’t worry, most of these will just be quick tips, as I look at the method and then give my opinion.  I just needed to reintroduce the series to the visitors that were here back then, and, introduce it to my new readers.

Secret Marketing Strategy Exposed

16. The “This Cheap Knock-off Does The Same Thing” Strategy

The “you can have the same benefits as that expensive product if you get my copycat alternative..” strategy let’s your buyers know that your product does the same thing as your competition’s expensive version. You can tell them that you know many of them couldn’t afford your competition’s version so now they won’t be left out in the cold and can enjoy the same benefits and more.

Joe Says:

Ahhh yes, the good old undercut strategy.  People have been doing this for ages, sell something similar, or identical, for less than the competition.  Now, this works, I can attest to that.  But, some people equate quality with price, so, use caution when employing this technique..as it has the potential to brand you as the guy with the knockoff products, or the guy selling
watches out of the trunk of his car…….

What do you think about this one?  Is it a viable method?

I’m one of those people who equate quality with price as I subscribed to the theory of “Cheap thing no good, Good thing no cheap”. Though I wouldn’t mind something of high quality selling cheaper than its competitor. Who would anyway?

I hear ya Yan, I think there are many like that. I say, chose your weapon wisely! You don’t want to be branded as just the “cheap product man” but at the same time you want to be able to cater to everyone.

I think it’s good to have a mixture of both to build a long term thing ya know?

Sile, not sure what you mean.

How, in what way to what?

    Having both types of products?

You can have some low price products that cater to beginners or entry level methods, and higher priced products that cater to the more knowledgeable folks out there and that include a lot more detail.

Basically, it’s what many would call a product funnel, this is how marketers can gain longevity.

If you get someone to become a customer with one of your lower priced or “entry level” products, and you provide quality, they will be more inclined to buy something else of higher value from you in the future….the key is to make sure each product is quality.

I may get more into this in the future…but it’s basically like you have something to help them along at every stage, as long as it’s quality, most people develop a sort of “loyalty” to the people they buy from.

I’ve found myself doing this very thing, if something blows me away at a lower price…I’m much more ready to get other products from them at higher prices, which go into more detail or higher level stuff.
