Niche site experiment study begins

By User ImageNormal Joe | June 18, 2008

Hey,are you new here? You should subscribe to my RSS feed miss out on any goodness!

So, I’m starting to deploy some niche sites, and I want to keep you updated as to how the progress is going.  I can’t reveal the sites at this point, because I don’t want to skew the results.  Basically, the plan is to deploy sets of sites that are focused around a specific niche, and, depending on the niche, I will monetize with Google Adsense.

Some of the niches will also work well with affiliate products and CPA networks.

Results so far:

I deployed the first site midweek last week.  The site as well as the first articles were indexed by Google within about 5 days.  I will now move towards publishing a new article each day, so that the Google bot will fall in love with the site.

The Plan:

These sites will not be flagship sites like this one, just small informational sites.  I had some ideas about this before but Garry Conn helped me quite a bit to get started.  His mentoring, mixed with a little bit of brainstorming, and I am slowly coming up with a nice little system I can use to virally deploy small sites into various niches.  The main key to this method is quantity, I need to have many small sites all generating a small amount of money, which will add up in the end.  The first goal is to get each site to generate $1 per day.

I know this does not seem like much, but, when you deploy 40-50 small sites all dedicated to one specific area of a specific niche, this can add up to a nice little passive income.  As I said, this is not going to be quick, and is something I will be working on for a while.  It is only one of the income streams I am putting into place.  The important thing to remember is not to put all your eggs in one basket

I will keep you updated as to how it is going, and, once I get enough sites running in a specific niche, I will reveal the sites to you.  I just don’t want to taint the study…..by telling my readers about the sites.  I’m sure all your resourceful people can find out if you really wanted to :)

Joe this is a great Idea and one of which I am working one as well at the moment. I take it you’re going after one niche and using various keywords and sub keywords to get a foothold in this niche.

Thanks Shane….yeah, that’s the basic concept, but, it varies depending on the niche I chose. I have a nice plan in place and just need to see it through.
I got some good tips and pointers in the right direction from Garry Conn, and then I am building upon that to develop a system that works for me.

I’ll talk to you a little more about it later

    Hey Joe,

Your site is great and there seems to be little core of us new affiliate bloggers all working on similar projects.

Hopefully we can all start pushing things forward and get ourselves earning a nice sum of cash.

Thanks Forrest! Yeah, I’ve noticed that a few of the bloggers that I respect and network with, have similar ideas….we need to start a mastermind of some sort, where we can share ideas with each other and stuff….

It’s good to find others you can trust…..

  9. no imageScam (I Say)

How often do you think you will have to post to each site in order to keep them fresh in the eyes of Google?

I’d say, it depends on how you write your articles. It took the site and the first few articles a little under 5 days to get indexed. After that, I will make a post everyday for a few weeks, to show the googlebots that I got love for them :)

After that, they should check back on a regular basis, you can then do what you want, daily, or, I’d move to making a couple of posts per day for a few months, which may make the googlebots very happy.

The thing to remember….wordpress allows you to write your content ahead of time, and schedule them to post for later. There is nothing wrong with doing this, it’s a smart way to use technology.

The thing to remember, is these are not flagship blogs, they are niche sites, so, once you get some content going, they can be pretty simple to maintain. As long as you get on a regular schedule and keep the content flowing.

I will reveal more about the process at a later date, but, I will keep you all updated.

    Thanks for stopping by Scam.

    Hi Joe,

it’s teh first time that I’m stopping at your blog, it’s interesting and I’ve immediatly a couple of questions?

    1) You said: “The important thing to remember is not to put all your eggs in one basket. What do you mean whit it ? That you’re going to relay not only on Adsense, but also on affiliate ads, or something else ?

    2) Why do you have 2 boxes for the email subscription in your sidebar ? One is from Aweber the other from Feedburner.

Welcome Alex! Thanks for stopping by, I hope you find it useful and continue to come back :)

    To answer your questions:

    1. Exactly, some people rely only on affiliate sales, or Adsense, or some other form of income. I think it is much better to have a few sources of income, so that way, if one drops off, you still have the others.

For example, there have been people who have been banned from Adsense for illegal clicks, sometimes they are guilty and sometimes they aren’t. However, if Adsense was the only thing paying the bills….they would be in a little bit of trouble, especially since I don’t think they would get their pending earnings if they are banned.

    2. Correct again, one form is for my mailing list, and one is simply to get my rss feed by email. Some prefer to get the RSS by email instead of in an RSS reader.

Hope I’ve answered your questions properly. Thanks again.
